Alvaro and Maria got married at City Hall on the last day of July. No big production. A suit, a bouquet of calla lilies, and the two of them.
Most of a City Hall wedding is waiting. The green bench, the desk, the paperwork, the number you are given. Then you are called in, and the part you actually came for takes about a minute.
Outside there was confetti on the steps and the bouquet went straight up in the air.
After that we did what you do in New York. We walked down into the City Hall station, took the train uptown, and finished in the middle of Grand Central with the whole place moving around them.
