Team Headshots

I arrive about an hour before the first sitting and set up a backdrop and lights in a meeting room or a quiet corner. People come in one at a time on a booked slot, with the next person or two waiting nearby, so nobody is away from their desk for long and nobody waits more than ten minutes. Most sittings take five to fifteen minutes.

Less than you think. A conference room works, and so does a corner of an open floor. What matters is depth: roughly ten to twelve feet between the camera and the wall. A window is a bonus, not a requirement, because I bring lighting. A room with a door helps, since people relax when the rest of the office is not watching.

Yes, that is the point of a team session. The light, the background and the crop stay fixed for everyone, and every photo is edited the same way, so thirty portraits read as one company. I keep a record of the setup so people you hire next year can be matched to the same set.

A clean grey or white backdrop is what most companies choose for a team page, because it still matches in two years when you add new hires. Shooting in the office itself has more character and suits LinkedIn and press. Within two days of the shoot you get a private proofing gallery with 8 to 12 frames per person, and each person marks the ones they like. Being handed a photo you did not pick is the reason so many people quietly never update their profile, so everyone chooses their own.

Retouched high-resolution files in web and print sizes, cropped square, 4:5 and 16:9, on one shared link with clear file names, with web and print use included. I remove what is temporary and leave what is permanent. A spot or a patch of redness from that morning gets cleaned up. Freckles, moles and scars stay, and skin is never smoothed into plastic. New hires can book a 30-minute sitting at my studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, or on site, for $250 each. They are lit and edited to match the original set, so the team page never looks patched together.

Two to four weeks is typical, and rush dates are possible. A 30% deposit holds the date and the balance is due on delivery. Rescheduling is free with 14 days' notice. Travel within Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens is included; anywhere else is quoted.
